Mount LeConte via Alum Cave Trail, Myrtle Point, and Cliff Tops

This adventure started when an old high school friend messaged me and asked if I wanted to go on a 7 day adventure hike that she was planning. For her to think of me after all these years, reminded me how grateful I am for the people in my life. On the FlyAway, I kept thinking about the adventure ahead. Once I landed in Texas, we drove to Tennessee and stayed at a cabin right on the river. It was right in the middle of Tennessee and North Carolina, so the Appalachian trail was within an arm’s reach. Let the adventure begin!

At the lodge, we got a sack lunch for $11. The summer sausage, fruit leather, and Oreo’s really hit the spot. We also got unlimited beverage cups to fill with lemonade and we sat in the rocking chairs on the porch. It was the perfect beverage to enjoy while we took in the beautiful view and chatted with some nice people.

We saw black bear come out of the woods when we were on our way down.
Invasive beetles kill the trees.
